Work Plan
Development/Upgradation of Ten selected Market Yards willing to upgrade marketing facilities in major jute growing states in India under the aegis of APMC’s and construction of 20 Departmental Purchase Center of JCI.
Establishment of Farmers’ Information Centres in all the marketing facilities which should have the facilities for dissemination of information on ruling market price and future trend in the market using all available media like Newspapers/All India Radio/Doordarshan/Cable TV/E-mail.
Establishment of Jute Farmers’ Groups.
Farmers outside the catchment areas would be provided with marketing information through Newspaper/All India Radio and Doordarshan/Privately owned media.
Activating future markets of raw jute/mesta by providing farmers with the information regarding future trends in raw jute/mesta markets and enabling them to take a prudent decision for the sale of their produce.
Conducting survey and workshops at the level of growers for dissemination of approved retting techniques developed by different Textiles Research Association (TRAs) and their effective transfer in the field level.
