Funding Pattern : (90% JTM : 10% JCI/ Beneficiary):
Construction of Retting Tanks with demonstration shed has been started in the newly constructed DPCs of JCI with an estimated cost of Rs. 4 Lacs per site as per DPR. The construction of all retting tanks will be completed by March 2010.
Construction of RT by West Bengal State Co-operative Marketing Federation Ltd. (Benfed)
The proposal of The West Bengal State Co-operative Marketing Federation Ltd. (Benfed) for construction of 11 nos. of retting tanks in the Nadia and Murshidabad districts under their supervision has been approved in last IC meeting. These tanks will be constructed as per DPR of lay out of Rs. 4 lacs (including pump), ie- 3 tanks at each place for trial demonstration of the technology developed by CRIJAF, NIRJAFT and Low cost Retting Technology. Joint inspection of JCI & Benfed Staff is going on for earmarking of land.
Scheme-IV: Demonstration of Retting Technology
Physical Outlay: Rs. 2.00 Crores
Physical Target: 40 Demonstrations per year
JCI has organized 50% of the demonstration programmes in the centers of last year to have feed back from the growers regarding retting technologies. Remaining 50% of the demonstration programmes were held in new places for procuring response from new places.

Scheme-V: Development of high speed Ribboners
Project Outlay: Rs. 1.60 Crores
JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY (Project Cost Rs 31 Lacs in first phase) |
Jadavpur University has been assigned a project to develop High Speed Jute Ribboners (phase I). They developed prototypes which are to be placed under field trial during next retting season. JU has submitted a proposal to develop 2 more High Speed Ribboner Machines (Phase II) before the next Jute retting season. These Machines will be placed in the field for demonstration and popularize the scheme. |
CRIJAF (Project Cost Rs.40 Lacs in first phase) |
CRIJAF to develop Prototype of High Speed Jute Ribboners in collaboration with Lagan Engineering Co. They are in process of development of new Ribboner with increase in speed suitable for ribboning of green jute plant (per day) which is produced in 1 bigha of land. |
